5. Reshaping & Repositioning Capabilities

Markets and sectors are in continuous flux, therefore the leadership of a company must expect to also be perpetually adjusting, not settling into one structure or business model with the expectation to continuously exploit a set of specific resources or position in the market. Agility requires movement, the organisation and key talent should be kept in flux. Our work shows that the best performing corporations have three characteristics:
  • They are continuously in transformation. Somewhere in their organisation and in their business model there are always changes being planned whilst others are being implemented. Like a tennis player waiting for their opponents next shot, they are always moving.
  • They often maintain seemingly competing options in parallel, alternative technologies, alternative supply chains, alternative product models. There is some redundancy and complexity incurred by doing this, but agility is also ensured. Enabling them to adapt to the uncertain, unknown future as it unfolds.
  • Through the combination of being in continuous transformation and maintaining options in parallel, the most agile corporations emphasize phased entry into and exit from markets and resources. Experimenting before piloting before venturing and harvesting whilst retreating rather than abrupt withdrawal.

Dynamic Advantage Audit & Workshops

The Dynamic Advantage Audit is a self-administered online questionnaire. The report compares the agility of your organization with the total database of all companies that have previously participated in consulting projects and in the initial research. 
​The results of the audit results inform and focus discussions in the workshop. In the workshop we share insights from corporations globally reflecting the initiatives that they have adopted to increase their agility. We then facilitate group discussions on potential options that can be adopted within your organisation to increase corporate agility.
