The ‘war for talent’ was predicated on the notion that there was a pool of available talent ‘out-there’, for which companies had to compete. Recognition of the profound changes in the skills and competencies required to win in the 4IR has led to the realisation that there isn’t a large enough pool of existing talent to fight over. The war for talent has been supplanted by the race to develop and deploy 4IR talent.
